Synchronous learning occurs when all the students take a course at the same time with the teacher.
Although some students are learning at a distance, they are still receiving real-time instruction together with the other students.
Some forms of synchronous learning include video sharing, slide sharing, demos, real-time chat discussions, and polls.
This is often supplemented with asynchronous learning content, where students read materials, watch videos, and come together for the lesson with the teacher and other students before or after the live lesson.
