Hey Teachers, Coaches, and Experts!
In Sales, there is something called Buyer’s Remorse: a few minutes, hours, or days after buying something, you wonder if you paid too much, if it wasn’t worth it, and ultimately, if you should get your money back.
So to counteract buyer’s remorse, we want our students to experience a quick win as soon as they buy a training product or service. A quick win is a small, simple result that they can achieve fast. Not a full transformation. Not mastery. Just a step forward and a reminder that they are in the right place.
Here are a few ways creative teachers can design quick wins into their programs:
• Help them see progress fast
Students don’t always realize they are making progress unless you point it out. Simple language that highlights what they have accomplished makes a big difference. For example, “Once you finish this step, you now know how to create your table of contents for your book”.
• Give them something they can complete quickly
Early lessons should be short, clear, and focused on action so students can finish without overwhelm. Think in terms of small, doable tasks that build confidence right away. For example, a first exercise they can complete in one sitting, like setting up their settings for their design software.
• Design for momentum, not perfection
The goal is movement, not flawless work. Early success should feel light, achievable, and encouraging. For example, creating a rough draft and printing your first geometric 3D printer block instead of a finished, realistic figurine.
When students get a quick win early, they feel confident, they trust your process, and they’re more likely to keep going. Quick wins don’t require more content. They require better strategies and sequencing.
Start by looking at your content and asking, what small success can my students get on the first day, week, month… That one change can dramatically reduce buyer’s remorse (churn), refunds, bad reviews, and wasted onboarding work. And the flip of all that is more money, better reviews, and clients that stay with you longer.
You got this!
